Q10. Can i provide my own fabric?

Unfortunately we cannot make suits with a fabric provided by a customer. We can only ensure that the finished product lives up to our standard of quality and fit if the fabric comes from one of our own mills.

Q11. I'm new to buying custom clothing. What should I know?

That you’re not alone! We know that taking your measurements and choosing customization options may seem daunting to a first-timer but don’t worry, we’re here to guide you each and every step of the way.

Here are some tips when visiting us for the first time:

1. Plan ahead

Bespoke suits typically require multiple fittings and several weeks to complete, so plan your visit well in advance, especially if you have a specific deadline or event in mind. We recommend visiting us 3 months prior to your event day and maintaining your weight will be very beneficial in ensuring accurate measurements and achieving the best fit for your bespoke suit.

2. Research & gather inspiration

Have an idea of what you want in terms of style, fabric and details for your suit. It will be very helpful if you can come with pictures of specific designs in mind. Knowing your preferences will help us understand your vision and guide you through the process more efficiently.

Ways to draw inspiration:

  • Browse the fabric catalogues on our website and our lookbook on social media platforms (Instagram/Facebook)
  • Visit off-the-rack stores and try on different suit colours/styles to see what looks and feels best on you. Take photos so we can find something similar for you!

3. Come in well-fitted clothing

Kindly avoid wearing baggy jeans, sweatpants and hoodies as they can distort measurements. If you have an existing suit or shirt that you really like, you may bring it down during the appointment for us to better understand your desired fit.

That being said, we do have some ready-to-wear options for ladies and we advise that the female customers go to our showroom to get fitted as we are able to assess if adjustments are needed.

Q14. Do you provide rental garments?

We do not currently provide rental services. At SuitYourself, our aim is to provide custom garments that fit your unique measurements, with personally chosen touches to fit your style.

We carry over 6000 quality fabrics suitable for Singapore's climate! Our suiting fabrics run the gamut of Wool blends, 100% Wool & Linen. For fabrics sourced from prestigious British and Italian mills, we have Jorgecarli, Dormeuil, Brisbane Moss and many more available in store.

All of our suits are paired with Bemberg cotton inner lining, the lining fabric of choice for luxury suits given its breathable nature. For those who prefer to custom your linings, we do have silk linings available as well.

Q11. Do you sell or offer shorts with your suits?

The short answer is yes, we do tailor shorts and the prices will be same as normal length trousers.

Q12. Why are my pants wearing more quickly in the crotch area?

Thigh size

If you're an individual whose legs touch and rub together, this rubbing friction can lead to quicker wear in the crotch and upper thigh area.

Walking style

Similar to thigh size, if your walking style causes your legs to rub together as you walk then you will be putting extra pressure on your upper thigh and crotch area, ultimately leading to premature wear.

Fabric too fine

Those pesky Super 150s, they feel amazing and look better than they feel. Unfortunately, with the increased fineness of the fibres, they are more delicate and wear more quickly than your Super 110s. We recommend these for your special events, and not for work!

Pants too slim

The price we pay for being runway ready? If you prefer your pants on the slimmer side, this can cause stress on the fabric when your knees are bent or you're being overly active.

How can I prevent this kind of wear?

If this is a regular issue for you, then there are a few things that can prevent the wear in the first place:

Proper fit

First and foremost we need to ensure that your pants fit properly and aren't too tight in the upper thigh.

Saddle

A saddle is a small triangle of reinforcing fabric that can be added by a tailor after you receive your pants. This helps to reduce the friction from legs that are rubbing and also spreads any moisture that can cause wool to be more delicate.

Air them out

After a long day of wear, there can be a build-up of moisture and bacteria. This can cause the fibres to become weaker and more brittle. Before you return your suit to the closet, let it air out on a hanger for a couple of hours.

Don't do star jumps

Our suits are primarily made of wool and wool does not stretch. If you do the splits at your brother's wedding, I'm sorry to inform you that your pants will rip. Almost every time.

Q13. Do your tuxedos come with satin trim?

Yes, our classic tuxedo and dinner jackets have satin trim as is traditional with black-tie formalwear.

Areas with satin trims:

  • Tuxedo Jacket: Lapels, welt pocket facing (optional), and covered buttons.

  • Tuxedo Pants: side stripe (optional)

  • Tuxedo Vest: Pockets (optional) and covered buttons. There is no satin on the vest lapels.

Q13. Do you make tailcoats or morning suits?

Yes we do, tailcoats and morning suits are at an additional $150 on top of usual jacket prices.

MEASUREMENTS

Q1. How accurate are the measurements?

Our Style Guides have undergone professional training and they will take your body measurements and convert them into clothing measurements. Your body measurements are the baseline and we need to adjust your sizing by tweaking your garment measurements according to our tried and tested algorithm.

For the Finest & Bespoke series, we will be including a muslin fitting session where a mock-up fabric is used to tweak to your preference before we commence tailoring on your actual fabric. Processes like these allow for extremely small changes to the fit and every part of the suit is customizable to the smallest detail/adjustment.

Q2. How long does a typical measurement session last?

A measurement session typically take 15 minutes. The rest of the time will be used for fabric and customisation selection. This may be expedited if you already have a fabric and colour in mind.

Q3. What are the differences between your fit options? Which one is right for me?

For a more modern look, Slim Fit or Smart Fit will work best for most guys. For ultimate comfort, Loose Fit is the way to go. If you're still not sure, consult our Style Guide.

Q4. Can you copy the fit of an existing suit that I have?

No, we do not duplicate the fit of other suits as the patterning process might differ between various suits. We prefer to make a suit based on your body measurements instead! Nonetheless, you may bring down your existing suit for us to better understand your desired fit.

Q5. Can you guys make clothes for bigger guys?

Of course! As long as we have your measurements, we’ll make you something that’s both stylish and comfortable, regardless of your size. After all, that’s the beauty of custom.

Do note that for guys with a chest/waist/hip measurement above 120cm, there will be a nominal fabric charge of 15%.

Q4. How do i re-order?

ALTERATIONS

Q1. What can I do if my suit or shirt doesn't quite fit me?

We want you to be happy with the products you buy from us. If you require a reassessment of fit or alteration(s) to be performed, you may bring it to us within 7 days of the first fitting session. All we need from you is to contact us via whatsapp so we can facilitate the alteration process. However the policy is subject to the conditions below:

  • The alteration policy is valid for 7 days from the day you've tried on your garment at our showroom. The alteration policy is not included in orders that are self-measured by clients or where measurements are provided by the client.
  • We may initiate 1 round of complimentary alterations where, in our reasonable opinion, the product: Severely lacked fabric in some areas such that wearing the suit is a challenge or when there is a gross amount of loose and unintended fabric.
  • When an alteration is needed, we aim to complete this within one week.
  • If a tailor deems the order unalterable, we will remake the item from scratch. Our adjustment policy is designed to ensure that your suit will fit, while keeping our prices as low as possible by doing away with unnecessary adjustments. As such, our Style guides will strive to achieve a good fit upon first fitting.
  • We will not alter a product that you have bought and received where, in our reasonable opinion, the product has: Become of unacceptable quality due to fair wear and tear, misuse, using it in an abnormal way; or failure to take reasonable care.
  • Excluded from our 7 day alteration policy are any changes that are conflicting with previous alterations (e.g. if you previously asked for an alteration to make the waist bigger, and now you’re asking to reverse that alteration). We may also exclude certain alterations if your body size has changed based on the measurements.
  • For subsequent alterations to be made after 7 days of fitting session, you can choose to either: Have them altered by us (subject to applicable charges) and we will put it through local alteration or go to your favourite spot to get your garment altered on your own (cost borne by yourself).

Q2. How long does it take for alteration(s)?

When an alteration is needed, we aim to complete this within one week. We strive to make all adjustments in one alteration, but in certain cases it may take two, three or more fitting appointments which is part of the process.

PAYMENT

Q1. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept the following methods of payment:

Paynow Paylah Google Pay Grab Pay Visa Mastercard American Express SuitYourself Gift Card

Q2. How do I notify you of my payment?

Q3. What is your returns policy?

Once your first garment is received, we await your feedback and we will perform 1 round of complimentary alterations if required. Kindly bring the garments back to us within 7 days from the date of first fitting. These typically take approximately one week per alteration.

In the rare case that the required changes are beyond of what can be altered, we will replace the item for you. In such cases, we may also ask you to visit our showroom so we can take the most up-to-date measurement to ensure the new garment fits you as comfortably and perfectly as possible.

As each garment is personally tailored, we are unable to resell an item to any other customer other than the customer placing the order, and as such we cannot provide refunds or returns on the basis of a change of heart on the part of the customer.

Q4. What are your standard terms of payment?

We take full payment for all commissions up front. This enables us to pay for your cloth and customisations.
